Undergraduate student Isabel Ruffin received the Duke Physics departmental award for her outstanding research accomplishments. Ruffin received the Daphne Chang Memorial Award which is given to the best undergraduate research thesis each year.

Hokkaido University’s research magazine series named “Tackling Global Issues” was published in March 2018. This magazine series focuses on research contributing to the resolution of global issues such as an aging society, environmental pollution and resource shortages.

Global Station for Soft Matter (GSS) was established in April 2016 at the Hokkaido University in Japan to further the development of soft matter. GSS is an international research hub in collaboration with ESPCI ParisTech and Duke University and so forth.
